When you’re hot, you’re hot and Jamar Williams is hot right now.
No player in the Wednesday Bears locker room did as many interviews as Williams. His 20 tackles against the Rams put him on the media radar.
”I felt like I made plays at this level before,” Williams said. “It’s not a question of that…I mean I was on that Super Bowl team…I mean if you ask anybody in this locker room everyone knows the type of player I am and how I play this game.”
However, Williams has only made three starts in four years playing in the same defensive system. With Lance Briggs likely returning to his weak side spot, Williams could return to a special teams only role against the Packers.
Or he might start for the injured Hunter Hillenmeyer(groin) at middle linebacker.
He could split snaps with Nick Roach at strong side linebacker.
“It’s hard to tell what will happen this week, but I trust these coaches. I can’t really question anything that they do. If they decide to rotate me at all three, I’ll be ready to go. If they say, this week you’re rolling strictly special teams I’ll be ready to go.”
No matter what happens, Williams has a resume of 20 tackles against the St. Louis Rams to give teams interested in free agency after the season.
