Briggs said it is not up to him if he plays

There are new NFL mandated guidelines in place to help concussed players. If a player shows symptoms of a concussion during the game, he will not return. Once diagnosed, players need to get the okay to play from a team physician and consulting neurologist. It is a policy adopted by the Bears fifteen years ago.
It applies to Charles Tillman.
He suffered a mild concussion Sunday in Minnesota.
“It obviously hurt,” Tillman said. “I saw a bright flash, dizziness more than anything. I was completely conscience…just extreme dizziness.”
Tillman practiced Wednesday. He expects to play Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.
“I think it is a serious matter. This happens to be the injury of this season. I think I’ll be all right. I’m concerned about my health, but I’m not concerned that it will effect me in any way down the line.”
Tight end Desmond Clark has played with a concussion in the past.
“I can appreciate the rules,” Clark said. “I guess at the heart of it…it’s trying to protect the players. Sometimes we need protection from ourselves. During the game, if you get a concussion and all of a sudden you feel like your okay you will try to get on the field.”
BRIGGS QUESTIONABLE
Pro Bowl candidate Lance Briggs said it is not up to him if he plays against the Rams. Bothered by a sprained knee and hip pointer, Briggs missed both practices this week.
He is disappointed about a season going south.
“It’s one of those deals after the season you get on a nice little trip and you go soul searching,” Briggs said. “You’ve got to take some time and when it’s all over get back to you.”
