It is another maddening Monday at Halas Hall.

Players were in for treatment and meetings pinpointing their failures in Cincinnati Sunday. Head coach Lovie Smith is not running away from the blame.
“I did not have our football team ready to go,” said Smith. “It was definitely not one of my better coaching days…our best coaching day and of course the players didn’t play the way that they need to. We all have looked in the mirror. We were able to look at the video earlier today to put it behind us. We will learn from that video and get ready for the Browns this week.”
As always, Smith said he will consider changes in personnel and in scheme which for the Bears is a matter of course.
In crystal clear clarity he explained why defensive tackle Tommie Harris did not play against the Bengals.
Harris was a healthy scratch.
“No there isn’t anything wrong with Tommie,” said Smith. “It was more coaches decision as much as anything. He had had some soreness. He didn’t practice all week. I thought we had better options.”
Marcus Harrison and Anthony Adams started at defensive tackle, with Israel Idonije and Mark Anderson rotating inside in an effort to spark the pass rush.
“All player decisions on who’s going to dress is a game-day decision…who gives us the best opportunity to play(win). Could Tommie have played if I wanted him too? Yes. But, I thought we could get a better Tommie if we let him rest this past week and get ready for this week. Tommie should be good to go this week.”
Harris did receive extra treatments this week as he continues to battle left knee soreness. He steadfastly denied that his left knee was an issue Sunday. He did do some light work before the game, but already knew he would be inactive.
