Cutler refused to say if he wants the Bears to acquire receiver Terrell Owens from Buffalo. When asked what he would say if the front office approached him about Owens, Cutler said, “I don’t think they’re going to.” Cutler said he does not know Owens.
Jay Cutler also played the Falcons in Atlanta last year.
“They’re really good down there,” Cutler said. “Really good defense…we’ve got to play our best ball.”
In a Denver Bronco uniform Cutler completed 19-of-27 passes(70%) for 216 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. His quarterback rating was 106.4 in a gritty 24-20 week eleven win.
“They mix it up. They do a lot of different stuff. They throw some blitzes at you, a lot of different coverage’s. They try to keep you off-balance and they’null done a pretty good job this year.”
“He’s a guy that’s got a strong arm,” said Falcons head coach Mike Smith. “He plays with a lot of confidence. He can fit it into small spaces. He can extend plays with his feet and he’s not necessarily a guy that is just scrambling
to throw. He can also run the ball effectively. He’s a very, very, competitive guy. I really like the way he plays the game because he’s a passionate, enthusiastic football player.”
Cutler played Jacksonville in 2007, when Smith ran Jack Del Rio’s Jaguars defense. Cutler played well, in a 23-14 Broncos loss.
After the 2007 season, Cutler, receiver Brandon Marshall, and tight end Tony Scheffler worked out together in Atlanta in an effort to build chemistry for 2008. They worked on speed and strength drills at Chip Smith’s Competitive Edge Sports athletic performance center. Several Bears including linebacker Brian Urlacher have worked with Smith in the past.
