Thursday Practice Report: Lions Week

Only two Bears know what it feels like to go winless.
Rod Marinelli coached the 0-and-16 Lions. Michael Gaines played tight end for the worst team in NFL history.
Both are Bears focused only on pushing the record to 3-and-1.
“It didn’t hit me…I don’t know when it hit me,” said a perplexed Gaines. “You try to make it a dream you never want to live.20A paycheck is…not enough money to go zero and…I call it defeated. It’s not enough money.”
Marinelli simply said, “It was difficult.”
In addition, he insists he carries no extra motivation into Sunday’s meeting with the Lions.
“No way,” said Marinelli. “I’m not built that way. All my energy is toward our team.”
Gaines praised Marinelli for “keeping his word” and showing up every day for work with a smile on his face last seas on.
“Adversity is something special…it really is…if you embrace it correctly,” said Marinelli. “If you run from it, it will wear you out. But if you embrace it and find a way to get better…that’s what I tried to do.”
Detroit has drastically changed its roster with 31 players Marinelli never coached.
