  • Some IOC members remain undecided and said they will make their choices after hearing the final presentations…turning up the heat for Fri. (1 PM Oct 1st)
  • IOC members are keeping their cards close. Several I talked with said this is the closest competition they can remember.
  • “We’re confident in our city and confident in our bid” said Ryan. The final pitch will ask the IOC “who do you trust to be your partner”
  • Chicago 2016 CEO Pat Ryan says the delegation is not cocky but confident about winning host city Friday. Obama to arrive here in hours.
  • Oprah calls President Obama the team captain of the Chicago 2016 delegation and win or lose “we will be confident we gave it our best shot.”
  • Oprah Winfrey says she’s acting as an ambassador for Chicago and the U-S. She will tell the IOC Chicago is the greatest city in the world.
  • Mrs. Obama says “Chicago will make a great host city…great people…great facilities…it knows about sports.”
  • First lady Obama says “we’ve got a lot of work to do and we’re not taking. anything for granted” as she began meeting with IOC members.
  • Being wanded and sniffed by the Secret Service for arrival of first lady. Nice doggie.
  • First lady Michelle Obama has arrived in Copenhagen. She was greeted by Mayor Daley and other Chicago 2016 members at the airport.
  • First Lady Michelle Obama will meet with IOC members on Wednesday and have a face to face with IOC president Rogge after her AM arrival.

  • Observation about Copenhagen: there are easily more bicycles than cars. I’ve honestly never seen more bikes.
