- Head coach Lovie Smith on the health of the secondary: “Now we have all the players that we started training camp hoping to be on the field we have for our first game. That’s a good thing. Players tell you who should start, who should dress. We have a pretty good idea of how we will play our players this week. We’re confident they will play well.”
- Several defensive players made a point to say the biggest change in the Bears defense this season comes down to accountability.
- Defensive end Adewale Ogunleye said mental mistakes will not be tolerated this year. “We have not place for that on this team. When we do mess up, we call out the person in front of the whole team, in front of the whole defense…everyone is being held accountable.”
- Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher pumped up the defense during his chat with the media. “”We’re playing fast. That’s the number one thing we did in the preseason. We made some mistakes, we’re going to do that, but we played fast. We got to the football, guys got there and they hit. That’s fun.”
- Packers return specialist Will Blackman (thigh) and reserve running back Brandon Jackson missed another practice Thursday. However, rookie defensive lineman B.J. Raji did return from a sore ankle.
